Malliotakis Announces Brooklyn Winners of 2024 Presidents’ Day Essay Contest

BROOKLYN, NY – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) on April 9 announced the Brooklyn winners of her 2024 Presidents’ Day Essay contest. Elementary school students in grades three through five from across New York’s 11th Congressional district were invited to participate and write essays about what they would do to improve their community if they were President of the United States.

“From combatting inflation and human trafficking, to lowering the cost of prescription drugs, to fighting for animal rights and increasing police presence in our community to reduce crime, these Brooklyn students effectively shared their thoughts on everyday problems impacting Americans,” Malliotakis said.”It was a pleasure to meet with them and discuss their ideas, and it’s my hope that this contest sparks a passion for positive change and civic engagement that continues to grow throughout their academic careers.”

Both first and second-place winners received gift cards to Barnes and Noble for their work and were invited to attend a reception with the Congresswoman to share their ideas.
