NEW YORK –

On Wednesday, April 10, a Pre-Sanctified Liturgy and memorial service for Archbishop Iakovos of blessed memory was held at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Headquarters in the chapel of Saint Paul.

The chapel and bordering hall was filled with faithful and Archdiocese staff who came together to celebrate the extraordinary leadership of Archbishop Iakovos. His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America presided over the service which was celebrated by Archdiocesan District Chancellor Fr. Elias Villis and assisted by Rev. Archdeacon Dionysios.

Also in attendance were His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, Bishop-Elect Nektarios Papzafiropoulos, Bishop-Elect Antonios Avramopoulos (Anton C. Vrame), and many area clergy.

Archbishop Elpidophoros performed the memorial service for Archbishop Iakovos, stating that no words could capture the great impact and legacy Archbishop Iakovos made in America. He also recognized two longtime dedicated members of Archbishop Iakovos’ staff who attended the service, Paulette Poulos and Nikki Calles.
