Cyprus Children’s Fund Awards $54,000 to 16 Students for 2025–26

NEW YORK, NY –

The Cyprus Children’s Fund (CCF) announced today that its Scholarship Committee has selected 16 college students to receive a total of $54,000 in scholarships for the 2025–26 academic year. “These annual scholarships have established the organization as one of the major supporters of Hellenic students”, the Cyprus Children’s Fund noted in a press release.

The Cyprus Children’ s Fund is a tax exempt 501 c 3 institution.

Committee Chairwoman Elena Rossi remarked, “The philosopher Diogenes said that the foundation of every state is the education of its youth. The Cyprus Children’s Fund is very proud to continue honoring that charge. Despite the challenging conditions we continue to navigate, we are very committed to providing scholarship support for students earning graduate and undergraduate degrees in American colleges and universities. This year’s recipients are pursuing a wide range of study and research”.

Nicos Zittis, President of the Cyprus Children’s Fund, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting academic excellence: “We are excited to provide $54,000 in scholarships to a group of high-achieving young women and men attending colleges and universities in the United States. These students are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of majors at some of the best academic institutions in the country”. He also expressed gratitude to the Iordanou family “for their very generous contributions in establishing the Constantine (Dinos) Iordanou Scholarship Fund, with the goal to award two $5,000 scholarships to a qualified male and a qualified female student each year”.

For the first time this year, Cyprus Children’s Fund is awarding the Constantine Iordanou Memorial Scholarships in honor of a visionary leader, pioneer, and legend in the insurance industry.

“An immigrant from Cyprus, Dinos Iordanou embodied the values of perseverance, excellence, and community. His passion for his homeland and commitment to advancing opportunity for others inspires this annual scholarship, awarded to one Cypriot-born male and female student who demonstrate academic excellence in engineering, mathematics, or business. Recipients should exhibit a commitment to giving back to their Cypriot community, reflecting Iordanou’s cultural pride”, the press release continues.

The Cyprus Children’s Fund continues to honor the legacy of Dennis Droushiotis—former Board member and longtime Cyprus Trade Commissioner in New York—through an annual scholarship bearing his name.

Funded by the Cyprus-U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Dennis Droushiotis Award recognizes academic excellence and supports students of Hellenic descent enrolled full-time at accredited colleges and universities across the United States.

This year’s recipients are:  Andreas Efstathiou, Christina Louka, Alexander Darna, Anastasia Khenkin,  Alexandros Orthodoxou, Anna Pasha, Anna Pelagia, Michalis Tsangarides, Eirene Fithian, Sofia Triantafillydou, Gabriela Haralambous, Nicholas Vatsis, Kypros Dereschuk, Jayla Paschalis, Yorgos Vassiliou, Christopher Dimitropoulos.
