NEW YORK, NY – GNUSA
The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America marked the 17th annual observance of National Leadership 100 Sunday on October 26, 2025, with parishes across the country honoring the enduring legacy of Archbishop Iakovos of Blessed Memory, founder of Leadership 100.
In an Encyclical issued on behalf of the Holy Eparchial Synod, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America reflected on the significance of the occasion: “Leadership 100, which was the vision of Archbishop Iakovos, is one of his most enduring legacies. Especially in this 20th year since his repose in the Lord, we celebrate Leadership 100 as a prime example of how our stewardship of material things reveals the core of our spiritual priorities.”
The Encyclical, read at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, emphasized the impact of Leadership 100 in advancing the ministries of the Archdiocese: “The Members of Leadership 100 have — in so many cases — led the way in the propagation and increase of diakonia throughout our Sacred Archdiocese of America. And this is because they see with the same vision that inspired Archbishop Iakovos, a dream for an Archdiocese with National Ministries, which meets the needs and aspirations of its Faithful”.
Building on this recognition, Archbishop Elpidophoros urged the faithful to reflect on the example set by Leadership 100 and embrace the spirit of generosity and service: “Let us all take inspiration from their exemplary labors on behalf of our Church. They have given from the abundance with which God has blessed them, and which they have achieved by their own diligence and industry. Let us thank them and follow their example by laying up treasure in Heaven”.
Demetrios G. Logothetis, Chairman of Leadership 100, stated: “Leadership 100 has been acclaimed for offering timely support of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which advances Orthodoxy and Hellenism. The annual observance of National Leadership 100 Sunday in parishes across the nation is a testimony to this commitment, true to the legacy of Archbishop Iakovos”.
Leadership 100 currently has 1,370 members from a broad spectrum of Greek Orthodox leaders, men and women of all ages from every field of endeavor.
Since its founding, Leadership 100 has distributed close to $83 million in grants to the National Ministries and Institutions of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, including the only Greek Orthodox Theological School in the United States, Holy Cross, as well as to Metropolis Ministries and humanitarian needs in the nation and around the world.
