ATHENS –

On November 5, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis hosted U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright at Maximos Mansion, reaffirming the strategic depth of Greece–U.S. relations and their expanding energy partnership. The meeting took place ahead of the 6th Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC), held in Athens on November 6–7.

Both sides emphasized their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, and highlighted its importance for the energy security of Central and Eastern Europe.

Prime Minister Mitsotakis underscored Greece’s pivotal role in advancing the Vertical Corridor and its growing infrastructure, including the LNG terminals at Revythoussa and Alexandroupolis, which position the country as a key gateway for energy distribution reaching as far as Moldova and Ukraine. He also noted the strategic contribution of Greek shipping in LNG transport and welcomed the presence of energy giants ExxonMobil and Chevron in Greece as a strong vote of confidence in the nation’s energy landscape.

Among the American delegation was Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Michael Rigas, who spoke of emerging agreements aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic ties between Greece and the United States.
