PM Mitsotakis meets AHEPA delegation on Greek-American relations

ATHENS –

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis welcomed a delegation from the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) led by Supreme President Chris Kaitson on November 6 at the Maximos Mansion.

During the meeting, discussions focused on supporting the Greek diaspora and strengthening ties with the homeland, promoting Greek-American cooperation in the fields of education, innovation, and culture, as well as AHEPA’s contribution to initiatives that enhance Greece’s international presence.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis praised AHEPA’s work and longstanding contributions, recognizing its pivotal role in preserving Greek identity and reinforcing the bonds of Hellenism around the world.

On their part, the Organization’s representatives reaffirmed their commitment to continue serving the values of Education, Philanthropy, and Solidarity, and to support, in every possible way, the efforts of the Hellenic Republic to promote Hellenism internationally.

Supreme President Kaitson outlined several ongoing projects that AHEPA is finalizing from last year’s administration under the leadership of now Past Supreme President Savas Tsivicos, notably the reconstruction of a medical facility in Chios and the AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki’s new surgical unit, which is scheduled for completion later this month.

According to a social media post by AHEPA, Kaitson also elaborated on other programs, including cultural and educational initiatives, which are being finalized for 2026 and he extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to attend AHEPA’s Supreme Convention in Philadelphia from July 26-31, 2026, which reportedly sparked the Prime Minister’s interest.

AHEPA Supreme President Kaitson was joined on his visit by AHEPA Canada President Anastasios Moussas, Europe’s Supreme Governor Stathis Kefalidis, AHEPA Greece Governor Nicos Dimitropoulos, AHEPA Executive Director Basil Mossaidis, and Daughters of Penelope Executive Director Elena Saviolakis, representing the Grand President.
