HFS Screens Greek Classic The Christmas Tango at MoMI, Dec. 14

ASTORIA, NY –

The Hellenic Film Society presents the Greek cinematic classic, The Christmas Tango, as the December screening of Always on Sunday, its monthly Greek film series. The film will be shown on Sunday, December 14 at 3pm at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria.

Released in 2011, the romantic drama unfolds on a Greek Army base, where a young lieutenant is determined to dance the tango at the holiday party with the colonel’s beautiful yet unhappy wife, with whom he has secretly fallen in love. Directed by Nikos Koutelidakis and based on the novel by Yannis Xanthoulis, the film earned three Hellenic Film Academy Awards.

The Christmas Tango has not been seen in the US for almost a decade, and we are delighted at the opportunity to show it as our holiday screening”, said Maria Miles, Hellenic Film Society president. “We think our audience will fall in love with this romantic drama”.
