The Mathraki Association of New York celebrated its 50th Anniversary Gala, marking five decades of cultural preservation and community support. The event took place at Leonard’s Palazzo, bringing together more than 170 attendees, including members, families, and supporters of the Greek-American community.

During the event, the Association honored Konstantinos Kasimis, former President and long-time board member, for his decades of service and leadership. Three remarkable women were also recognized for their extraordinary acts of courage and generosity: Eleni Katechis, Maria Gialopsou and Athanasia Bardi.

Each donated a kidney to save a family member, “offering the gift of life and embodying the values of unity, compassion, and family that define the Mathraki community”, the Mathraki Association notes in a statement.

“For fifty years, the Mathraki Association has been a pillar of unity for our community in New York, and we look forward to engaging the younger generation to carry our traditions forward,” said President, Spiros Mastoras.

Founded in 1975, the Mathraki Association of New York continues to promote the culture, traditions, and values of Mathraki and the Diapontia Islands through community events and cultural initiatives.
