Metropolitan Methodios of Boston celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Newport, RI, on Sunday December 14, marking this historic parish’s recent feast day with prayer and thanksgiving.

His Eminence was joined by the parish priest, Fr. Aaron Walker, and Dn. Vasilios Panagopoulos, as the faithful gathered to celebrate the feast of their patron saint and the continued life of the parish community.

Metropolitan Methodios tonsured six altar boys, Constantinos Haralambidis, Michael Haralambidis, John (Riley) Hopton, Haralambos Jasinski, Theodoros Soares, and Nektarios Walker.

The moment was described by the parishioners as a blessing for their parish and a sign of the growing involvement of the youth in the life of the Church.

His Eminence also offered a Trisagion prayer for the victims of the recent Brown University tragedy, lifting prayers for the repose of the departed and for comfort, healing, and strength for their families and all those affected.
