WASHINGTON, DC-
The AHEPA Foundation Inc., the charitable arm of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (Order of AHEPA), has received a remarkable $2.5 million donation to the John George Tsitsos Scholarship Fund. According to AHEPA, the gift — made by the family for whom the fund is named — boosts the John George Tsitsos endowment, which now exceeds $20 million. The donation to the AHEPA Foundation was received in the final days of 2025.
AHEPA Supreme President E. Chris Kaitson expressed his sincere appreciation for the generous gift, as well as his congratulations to the Chairman of the Board, Nicholas Aroutzidis, PCP, PSP Nicholas Karacostas, who serves as Chairman of the AHEPA Foundation and Executive Director Basil N. Mossaidis for their efforts working closely with the Tsitsos family.
“We are incredibly grateful to receive this generous gift – a gift that will enable students of Hellenic descent to pursue their educational goals for years to come. We believe strongly in our mission to provide educational opportunities, and this not only enables us to do so but also bolsters our current expectations for the future of the initiative”, Supreme President Kaitson said in a statement.
“Since launching the John George Tsitsos Scholarship Fund last year, we are now strongly positioned to help students pursue their academic dreams and to situate them for career success for generations to come. Amid the rising cost of higher education, our mission is strengthened significantly with deep thanks to the generosity of our benefactors”, he added.
“The Tsitsos family acknowledged the longstanding track record of AHEPA’s work to provide scholarship awards and grants to high school, undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate students and seminarians for more than half a century. They are grateful this money will fulfill this purpose through the AHEPA Educational Foundation, in loving memory of John George Tsitsos”, Supreme President Kaitson concluded.
Applications for the AHEPA Educational Foundation National and John George Tsitsos Scholarships will be available online in the coming days.
