The AHEPA Empire District’s 3rd Annual Hellenic History Tournament (HHT) will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in New Rochelle, NY, hosted by AHEPA James Plevritis – Joseph C. Keane Chapter 405.
The Hellenic History Tournament is a signature educational competition designed for high school students who want to deepen their understanding of the Greek people and their enduring influence on world civilization. Teams of three students compete in a fast‑paced, Jeopardy‑style format, answering questions that span ancient to modern Greek history. All questions are drawn from Hellenika: Heritage and History by Peter Limber, ensuring fairness and consistency across rounds.
Students in Grades 8 through 12 are eligible to participate, and the registration deadline is February 1, 2026. Registration forms and complete rules for both chapters and students are available on the Tournament Page at www.ahepad6.com/hht.
A total of $4,500 in prizes will be awarded at the district level: ($3,000 for the first‑place team and $1,500 for the runner‑up). Both top teams will advance to the National Rounds at the AHEPA Supreme Convention in July 2026 in Philadelphia, where an additional $10,000 in scholarship prizes will be distributed.
The tournament is organized by the dedicated Hellenic History Tournament Committee, comprised of Dean Moskos, AHEPA Supreme Governor Region 3 & PDG6 (Co-chairman), Lainie Damaskos-Christou, DOP Grand Governor Zone I & PDG6 (Co-Chair), Gus Constantine, AHEPA District 6 Governor, Marina Patelos, DOP District 6 Governor, Basil Katsamakis, Chairman of the AHEPA District 6 Scholarship Committee and all Scholarship Committee members.
The HHT Advisors are: Themistocles Frangos, AHEPA Supreme Secretary; Gregory Simones, PDG7 and Director of the District 7 HHT; Nicholas Nikas, PSG4 and PDG7; James Hutchison, Canadian AHEPA PDG23.
