NEW YORK, NY –
As part of the official cultural program of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, award‑winning artist Alexia presents Cypriote, a Live Arts music performance celebrating and elevating Cyprus’ rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary expression.
The sold- out performance will take place at the Trump – Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts – Terrace Theater on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
Cypriote offers an evocative musical journey into the island’s multilayered identity. Through a carefully curated blend of song and storytelling, Alexia draws inspiration from Cypriot antiquities, language, dialect, and collective memory. The work explores themes of heritage, belonging, and cultural continuity, inviting audiences into an experience that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Renowned for her distinctive sound and expressive artistry, Alexia blends Jazz, World Music, Traditional forms, and Improvisation into a vivid musical tapestry. Drawing on a feminine perspective and a global sensibility, she connects Cyprus’ ancient heritage with its vibrant present, placing the island’s culture within an international conversation.
She will be joined on stage by Anders Bostrom (Flutes), John Di Martino (Piano), Marcello Pellitteri (Drums), Ronan Chris Murphy (Electric Guitar & EFX), and Spiros Exaras (Guitars). Narration / Storytelling: Argyro Nicolaou, PhD.
The event is produced by Valentina Karantoni and Alexia Vassiliou, in collaboration with the Embassy of Cyprus in the USA and the Deputy Ministry of Culture, and is organized under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.
