WASHINGTON (ANA-MPA/P. Kasfikis) –
The value of Greek exports to the United States remained almost unchanged in 2025, despite the uncertainty caused by the imposition of tariffs on global trade by the Trump administration, according to a report from the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Washington.
Greek exports to the United States amounted to 2.4 billion euros in 2025, compared to 2.41 billion euros in 2024, recording a marginal decrease of 0.3%, while imports from the United States increased by 8.5% and amounted to 2.34 billion euros, from 2.16 billion euros the previous year. The total volume of bilateral trade stood at 4.75 billion euros, up 3.8%, while Greece’s trade surplus narrowed to 60 million euros from 250 million euros in 2024.
The energy sector remains a key contributor. Greek energy imports from the US amounted to 1.18 billion euros in 2025, of which 95% concerns liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments worth 1.13 billion euros, imported via Revithoussa and the Alexandroupolis floating facility and also channeled to neighboring markets. According to the note, LNG represents 48% of total US exports to Greece.
The contribution of petroleum products to Greek exports to the US is also significant, amounting to 581 million euros in 2025. Of this, 64% concerns aviation fuel, which is estimated to be mainly associated with the refueling of American flights at Greek airports, in the context of increased tourist traffic. These fuel exports offset approximately 35% of Greece’s energy imports from the US.
