The Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York has announced the successful completion of its Radiothon on Hellas FM, which raised more than $13,000 in support of the 2026 Greek Independence Day Parade to be held on April 26, on NYC’s Fifth Avenue.
Held on Monday, March 23, the annual live broadcast brought together members of the Greek-American community, supporters, and organizations who generously contributed to this important cultural celebration. The funds raised will directly support the organization of this year’s parade, one of the largest Greek heritage events in the United States.

“We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support from our community”, said Demos Siokis, the Parade Committee’s Communications Chair. “This achievement reflects the unity, pride, and dedication of Hellenism in New York and beyond”.
The Radiothon was led by Co-Chairs Christos Vournas, [Parade Committee Treasurer], Dimitris Filios [Public Relations Chair], and Avgi Maria Atmatzidou [Marketing Chair] whose coordinated efforts were instrumental to the event’s success.
In a statement, the Parade Committee, under the leadership of Lou Katsos, expressed gratitude to Dimitris Filippidis, host of the Radiothon, and to Hellas FM, for their continued support and partnership in bringing the community together for this important cause.
The Committee also extended its sincere appreciation to all donors, volunteers, sponsors, and listeners who made this effort a success, noting that “their continued support ensures that the rich traditions and history of Greek independence are honored and celebrated for generations to come”.
