Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias concluded a two-day visit to Massachusetts on April 23, after meeting with Greek professors at MIT-affiliated institutes and the Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
According to a statement, Dendias met with academics and researchers in the sectors of design and management of unmanned systems, satellite communications, innovation, as well as in the treatment and healing of military wounds.
Specifically, the defense minister paid a visit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he met with Michael S. Triantafyllou, William I. Koch professor of Marine Technology and director of the Center for Ocean Engineering. At MIT, Dendias also paid a visit to the Kavli Institute of Astrophysics and Space Research and met with professor Erotokritos Katsavounidis.
In addition, during his visit to the Boston area, the Greek Defense Minister also met with Dr George Velmahos, Harvard Medical School professor of surgery and chief of Trauma, Emergency Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at MGH, with whom he discussed the creation of a Trauma Center for the Greek Armed Forces.
