The Hellenic Medical Society (HMS) has launched its 2026 Scholarship Program, continuing a long-standing commitment to support academic excellence and opportunity within the Hellenic community.

Scholarships will be awarded across three categories: • Medical Students (merit-based and need-based) • Physicians-in-Training (merit-based and need-based) • Researchers (merit-based and need-based)

These scholarships are open to applicants of Hellenic descent who meet the program’s eligibility criteria.

For 90 years, HMS has served as a home for excellence, mentorship, and opportunity. For over five decades, the scholarship program, founded through the vision of Dr. Marinos Petratos, has helped transform ambition into achievement, supporting generations of students as they pursue careers in medicine and research.

What began as one man’s belief in the potential of young people has grown into a powerful and enduring legacy. Many scholarship recipients have gone on to distinguished careers and continue to give back to HMS as mentors, leaders, and donors, creating a lasting cycle of support within the community.

HMS extends its deepest gratitude to all donors, supporters, and alumni who make this program possible.

The final application deadline is July 1, 2026 (no exceptions). Applicants are encouraged to review eligibility requirements and submit all materials in advance.

As HMS looks ahead to its 90th Anniversary Gala on December 19, it celebrates not only its history but also the future—one shaped by the students and professionals who will benefit from these opportunities. The community is encouraged to help spread the word about the Scholarship Program and support the next generation of medical leaders.

HMS also welcomes seasoned medical professionals to join the growing network of members actively committed to fellowship, education, collaboration, and support of the medical community. Students (high school, pre-med, allied health professions, and medical) and young professionals in medicine, biomedical research, and all other fields aged 35 and under are invited to join free of charge and become part of this vibrant and supportive community.

Finally, “Friends of Medicine” are encouraged to become HMS members and benefit from valuable networking opportunities and meaningful community engagement. For more information, visit: https://hellenicmedicalsociety.org/
