PSEKA Cyprus Conference Returns to Capitol Hill, June 9–11

WASHINGTON, DC- GNUSA

Greek American leaders from across the United States will gather in Washington, DC, for the 41st Annual PSEKA Cyprus Conference, June 9–11. Once again, participants will meet on Capitol Hill with more than 40 key U.S. Senators, Members of Congress, and administration officials involved in shaping American policy toward Cyprus, Greece, and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Representatives from the American Jewish Committee and the Armenian National Committee will join this year’s PSEKA Conference, as will John Kiriakou, who will participate in the opening Strategy Discussion titled “The Republic of Cyprus in the Forefront: A Strong Strategic Partner of the United States” on June 9, alongside Ambassador Antonis Alexandridis of the Hellenic Republic and Evangelos Savva of the Republic of Cyprus.

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis will represent the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.

The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Michael Damianos, who is on an official visit to the United States, will also address the conference on June 9, outlining developments regarding the exploitation of hydrocarbons in Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone.

The Committee of Cyprus Occupied Municipalities, which has participated consistently over the years, will be represented by the Mayors of Kyrenia, Dr. Iosif Violaris, and Kythrea, Marios Zambakidis. Also present will be Member of the European Parliament Geadis Geadi.

Wednesday, June 10, will be dedicated in part to meetings with Members of Congress and Senators on Capitol Hill, followed by the evening banquet and the presentation of the Livanos, Athens, Mouyiaris, and Paraskevaides Awards. Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology, will be among the honorees.

The closing panel on Thursday, June 11, will focus on “Trade, Commerce and AI Technology.”

Organized by PSEKA with participation from AHEPA, AHI, FCAO, the Cyprus U.S. Chamber, the Pancyprian Association, and the Chios Societies of America, the conference serves as a major platform for advocacy on issues concerning Cyprus, Greece, and the Eastern Mediterranean.

“We remind everyone that a piece of Hellenism—36% of the Republic of Cyprus—is under occupation by Turkish troops. Both Greece and Cyprus are long-standing allies and strategic partners of America. The time to demand Freedom and Justice for Cyprus is now,” stresses PSEKA President Philip Christopher.
