Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met on June 17 with María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General on Cyprus.
According to the announcement by the Foreign Ministry, Gerapetritis reiterated Greece’s support for the efforts of UN Secretary-General António Guterres to achieve a comprehensive, just and sustainable settlement of the Cyprus issue, in line with the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
“The Foreign Minister underlined the importance of maintaining the momentum that has been built on the Cyprus issue over the past two years and more. Greece, in close coordination with the Republic of Cyprus, remains ready to contribute constructively to the next steps, with the aim of restarting negotiations on the basis of the agreed framework and under the auspices of the United Nations,” the statement notes.
Holguín Cuéllar’s visit follows her recent meetings with the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriot leader, as well as the Foreign Minister of Turkiye.
