AHEPA Empire State District Six proudly calls upon the United States Congress to formally recognize March as Hellenic American Heritage Month.
“March holds deep meaning for Hellenes around the world as we celebrate Greek Independence Day on March 25th and honor the historic bond between Greece and the United States — two nations united by democracy, liberty, faith, education, civic responsibility, and service”, newly elected Governor Konstantinos Prentzas states in a post.
He continues, “For generations, Greek Americans have helped shape the American story through military service, public service, business, education, medicine, law, the arts, philanthropy, and faith. Yet there is still no federally recognized month dedicated to honoring the full legacy and contributions of Hellenism and Greek Americans in America. We believe the time has come”.
Building on this message, he adds: Let March be the month when our nation celebrates the Greek spirit that helped shape democracy, strengthen our communities, and inspire future generations.
“Our Heritage. Our History. Our Contributions. Our Future. March is Hellenic American Heritage Month — Celebrating the Greek Spirit That Helped Shape America”, Governor Prentzas concludes.
