ATHENS –
Greece has once again received top distinctions in the highly competitive US tourism market, reaffirming its position as one of the most popular European destinations among American travellers, according to an announcement by the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO).
Specifically, Greece was named:
Favourite Country for the seventh consecutive year at the 12th annual Trazees Awards 2026, which recognise the travel preferences of millennial travellers; and
Best Family-Friendly Multigenerational Destination of the Year for the fourth consecutive year at the 9th annual Wherever Awards 2026, which focus on the travel choices of modern families.

Both competitions annually honour the leading performers across a wide range of travel-related categories, including city, culinary and family destinations, airports, airlines, hotel chains, cruise companies, car rental companies, credit cards, theme parks and amusement parks, among others.
The results in each category are determined following several months of open online voting among thousands of readers of trazeetravel.com and whereverfamily.com, respectively, both published by US-based FXExpress Publications.
This year’s Trazees and Wherever Awards ceremony was held in Chicago on Monday, 3 August 2026.
The awards on behalf of Greece were received by Konstantinos Charokopos, head of the GNTO North America Office.
