BROOKLYN, NY –
A. Fantis School announced that it has been awarded the prestigious National Blue -Ribbon Award, an honor reserved for the top-performing schools in the nation. Fewer than 50 nonpublic schools receive this recognition annually, representing less than 1% of schools across the country. This marks an extraordinary achievement for our school, as we join the ranks of the nation’s most elite educational institutions.

A. Fantis School’s student proficiency on New York state exams has consistently ranked among the top schools in the state, with over 95% of its students achieving proficiency, placing it near the top of over 1,700 public and private schools. This academic success, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape, is a testament to the resilience and commitment of the school’s educators, students, and supportive families.
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Board of Trustees of the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Brooklyn, which founded the school over 60 years ago, as well as the A. Fantis School Board. Their leadership and vision have been instrumental in upholding A. Fantis School’s high standards of academic excellence and its deep commitment to Hellenic heritage.
“As the only Greek parochial school to ever receive this honor, we take great pride in our dedication to preserving the Greek language and culture while fostering academic excellence,” remarked School Board Chair Dr. Katherine Tsamasiros.
To commemorate this remarkable milestone, a delegation from the school will attend the official National Blue -Ribbon Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on November 7 and 8. After this prestigious event, A. Fantis will joyfully host a school-wide celebration on Thursday, November 14, 2024, inviting all community members to join us in commemorating this significant milestone.
