WILMINGTON, DE – GNUSA
“The relationship between the United States and Greece has always been one of allyship and respect, with both countries providing the other with support and inspiration,” stated State Senator Spiros Mantzavinos, who welcomed Ambassador of Greece to the U.S., Antonis Alexandridis, at the Delaware Legislative Hall on April 16.
“I have always carried my Greek heritage with pride, and it was with great honor that we welcomed Antonios Alexandridis, the Ambassador of Greece, to visit the Senate Chamber yesterday. With a career, spanning decades in diplomacy and service, I know that he is the perfect choice to bridge our two countries together,” he noted in a Facebook post.

On Thursday, April 16, Ambassador Alexandridis paid his first official visit to Delaware, which is designated as “The First State” in the American Union.
During his visit, he addressed both the Delaware State Senate and the House of Representatives, where he was warmly received, according to a post by “Greece in Washington”. Among those present were prominent community members Demetrios and Georgia Halakos.
In his remarks, Ambassador Alexandridis underscored the enduring historical ties between Greece and the United States, noting that the intellectual lineage of the American Revolution is deeply rooted in the principles of ancient Greek democracy. He further emphasized that Greece today stands not only as a point of historical reference, but also as an active and reliable ally in a complex world.

He also met with Delaware Governor Matt Meyer and visited the University of Delaware.
A particularly meaningful moment of the visit took place at Odyssey Charter School, where students and educators presented their acclaimed, award‑winning educational model.
