Archbishop Elpidophoros of America to Participate in Holy and Great Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate

At the closing of the 46th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress earlier today, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros announced that at the invitation of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew he will participate in the Holy and Great Synod of Constantinople for the upcoming year, beginning in September.

“I am deeply honored by His All Holiness’s decision. I am also fully aware that this invitation to participate in the Synod reflects the importance that the Ecumenical Patriarch places on the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, which is embarking on its second centennial in America, united to the Mother Church,” said the Archbishop.

Though this is His Eminence’s first time serving the Synod in his capacity as Archbishop of America, he has previously served as its Codecographer, Deputy-Secretary, Chief-Secretary, and later, as a member as the Metropolitan of Bursa.
