SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco announced today the Archpastoral visit of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America to northern California from Sunday, February 26 through Thursday, March 2, 2023.
“It is a blessing and honor to have His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America in our midst as we begin our Lenten journey,” stated His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco. “There will be several opportunities for our faithful to receive the blessing of our Archbishop and Spiritual Father, and to join in prayer and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ”, he added.
The Holy Metropolis of San Francisco invites the clergy and faithful to greet the Archbishop and receive his blessing.
On Sunday morning, February 26, the Archbishop will preside at the Archieratical Divine Liturgy at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Sacramento and at 6pm he will officiate at the Vespers of Forgiveness at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Elk Grove.
On Monday, February 27, at 5:30 pm His Eminence will officiate at the Holy Unction at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church in Roseville.
On Wednesday, March 1 , at 6pm, Archbishop Elpidophoros will preside at the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland.
On Thursday, March 2, at 7 pm, His Eminence wii meet and have dinner with parish ministry leaders (Clergy, Parish Council, Philoptochos, Sunday School, Youth Ministry, Music, Greek School, Dance, Festival, etc.) at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Belmont.
During his visit to Sacramento, His Eminence will also have the opportunity to meet with California Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis and other government officials who will officially welcome him to the state capital.
While in San Francisco, Archbishop Elpidophoros will also meet with Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese.
