Bank of Greece: Increased budget surplus in January – February 2025

In January-February 2025, the central government cash balance recorded a surplus of €836 million, compared to a surplus of €346 million in the same period of 2024.

In the same period, the primary surplus stood at 2.1 billion euros.

During this period, according to provisional data from the Bank of Greece (BoG), ordinary budget revenue amounted to €11,636 million, compared to €10,696 million in the corresponding period of last year. Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to €10,781 million, from €9,552 million in January-February 2024.

The interest expense paid by the state budget to service the Public Debt recorded a marginal increase of 2 billion euros.
