The budget showed a higher primary surplus of 1.8 billion euros on a cash basis in January 2025 from 945 million euros last year, according to the Bank of Greece.
More specifically, in January 2025, the central government cash balance recorded a surplus of 560 million euros, compared to a deficit of 239 million euros in the same month of 2024. During this month, ordinary budget revenue amounted to 5,698 million euros, compared to 5,091 million euros in the corresponding month of last year. Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to 5,488 million euros, from 4,799 million euros in January 2024.
