The decline in bank deposits continued in March, according to the data that the Bank of Greece released on April 29. Deposits placed by households and private nonprofit institutions in Greek banks decreased by 158 million euros in March 2025, compared with a decrease of €96 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 2.6% from 3%, in the previous month.
In March, corporate deposits increased by €2.56 billion, compared with a decrease of €1.3 billion in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 11.9% from 9.4% in February.
Deposits from non-financial counterparties (NFCs) increased by €2.43 billion, against a decrease of €1.26 billion in the previous month.
Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €127 million, compared with a decrease of €46 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by the private sector increased by €2.4 billion in March 2025, against a decrease of €1.7 billion in February.
In March 2025, deposits placed by the general government decreased by 1,046 million, compared with an increase of 928 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 12.1% from 15.3% in the previous month.
