ATHENS -Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias replied to statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about the Greek Foreign Minister in a tweet on Thursday, thanking him for his “kind words”.
“Greece is fully committed to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Mariupol and I will spare no effort in this endeavour,” Dendias added.
Zelensky, in a video message posted on the Ukrainian presidency website, had expressed his gratitude to Dendias after the foreign minister announced that he intends to accompany a humanitarian aid mission to Mariupol.
“I am grateful to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, who was the first European official to decide to support the work of our humanitarian corridors in Mariupol, to evacuate our people from the city and bring in humanitarian aid, which is crucially important for everyone,” the Ukrainian president said in a clip attached to Dendias’ tweet.
