NEW YORK, NY – The Office of Greek Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America announced today the release of its Greek Language Framework for grades K-8. This framework is essential for students to achieve learning expectations while mastering the Greek language.
“It is our hope that not only will schools/programs implement and promote the advancement of the Greek language, but also educate our students by informing, forming, and transforming them with wonder and meaning of the Greek Orthodox faith”, said Dr. Anastasios Koularmanis, GOA’s Director of Greek Education, in a statement.
“While the knowledge of any language has value, Greek is not only a global language but also the mother tongue of many Greek-Americans and an integral part of their Greek identity”, he added.
Dr. Koularmanis expressed his thanks to the Democritus University of Thrace who was contracted to author this framework and to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for funding this project and for their continued support for Greek Education in our schools.
