The Consulate General of Greece in New York announced the launch of the 2026 Hospitality and Greek Language Programs, an initiative implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, as part of the Strategic Plan for Greeks Abroad 2024-2027.

The hospitality programs aim to strengthen the bonds between the Hellenic Diaspora and their homeland. This year’s programs offer a multidimensional experience of Greece, combining education, sports, and culture in some of the country’s most beautiful regions, reads the announcement by the Consulate General of Greece.

2026 Program Overview

1. Summer Camp Hospitality Program (Children aged 8–12)

A unique experience in Agios Nikolaos, Halkidiki. Children will participate in a wide range of activities, including sailing, canoeing/kayaking, adventure courses, and cultural excursions.

  • Session A: June 23 – July 06 (100 participants)
  • Session B: August 02 – August 16 (50 participants)
  • Session C: August 17 – August 31 (100 participants)

Note: Accommodation is provided in dormitories (12 children per group) with balanced gender representation and the presence of qualified supervisors.

2. Hospitality Program for Diaspora Youth (Ages 18–25)

A cultural itinerary spanning Thessaloniki, Kavala, Xanthi, Drama, Serres, and Athens.

  • 1st Cycle: July 17 – 27
  • 2nd Cycle: August 17 – 27
  • Accommodation: 3-star hotels, full board included.

3. Hospitality Program for Senior Citizens of the Diaspora (Ages 65–75)

A specially designed program for 40 participants, covering the regions of Macedonia and Athens.

  • Duration: July 6 – 16

4. Greek Language and Culture Programs

  • University of Ioannina (Ages 18–25): July 06 – 19. Accommodation provided on campus. The program includes language courses tailored to proficiency levels and educational excursions.
  • University of Western Macedonia (Ages 18–25): July 05 – 17. Summer School held at the new University Campus in Kozani, featuring an emphasis on digital activities and experiential learning.

Note: Upon successful completion of either program, a Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all participants.

5. Pilot Environmental Program (Ages 18–25)

Designed for 35 young participants with a keen interest in nature and outdoor activities.

  • Duration: September 01 – 12
  • Itinerary: Thessaloniki, Aoos River, Konitsa, Voidomatis River, Bourazani, Vikos Gorge, Ioannina, Athens.
  • Accommodation: Includes overnight stays in tents (camping).

6. Traditional Dance Program

In collaboration with the Lyceum of Greek Women (Lykeion ton Ellinidon).

  • Commencement: After September 15.

Diaspora Youth Summer Camp in Lemnos: “Heritage Surf Camp” (Ages 18–30)

An experiential program combining adventure with cultural identity in the heart of the Aegean Sea.

  • Dates: June 13 – 24, 2026
  • Content: Windsurfing, kitesurfing, and surfing lessons conducted by certified instructors, integrated with “Heritage Labs” (experiential language and mythology sessions) and environmental responsibility initiatives within Natura 2000 protected areas.
  • Requirements: Participants in this specific program are required to submit a Liability Waiver (Consent of Participation and Liability Acknowledgment).
