E-Governance ministry launches myservice.gov.gr platform for guidance during natural catastrophes

ATHENS – [ANA-MPA]

A new digital platform to alert residents in case of earthquakes and other natural catastrophes and advise them how to be safe, mysafetyplan.gov.gr, was launched on Wednesday by the Digital Governance Ministry in collaboration with the National Observatory of Athens.

The platform can be accessed directly without the need to download an application. It includes a “digital map of safe spaces”, which provides real-time information on temporary shelters provided by civil protection, municipalities, and regions.

Shortly the service will be enriched with additional directions and information material on various types of natural catastrophes.

The e-Governance ministry is also collaborating with major telecommunications companies (Cosmote, Vodafone, and Nova) to add mobile units and generators in affected or threatened areas, to ensure that communication is still feasible when electricity is interrupted.

In addition, HellasSat has prepared a mobile unit for satellite communications that will be transported to Santorini (Thera), at the Hellenic Air Force base there.
