The community of Kimisis Tis Theotokou in Holmdel, New Jersey, hosted the Annual Metropolis of New Jersey “A Christmas Concert” on Saturday, December 14.

The festive event was graced by the presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey.

This beautiful concert began with the children of the Kimisis tis Theotokou Youth Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Lucy Milonas offering traditional Christmas carols and songs. Following the youth, members of the New Jersey Chamber Orchestra and a chorus from the Tri-State Metropolitan area of New York and New Jersey, under the direction of Maestro Dimitrios Fousteris, delivered a wonderful performance of a selection of pieces from Handel’s Messiah.

In his Archpastoral remarks, at the conclusion of the concert, His Eminence offered his appreciation to Maestro Fousteris for his tremendous efforts in organizing this amazing evening. “As we prepare to celebrate the holy days of Christmas, today’s wonderful choir prepared us in the best possible way for the Nativity through musical masterpieces,” His Eminence said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the entire community of Kimisis Tis Theotokou and the proistamenos, the Rev. Panagiotis Lekkas, for their extraordinary efforts in hosting this annual concert. His Eminence concluded by offering his blessings and prayers to all in attendance for a most beautiful and joyous celebration of the Nativity of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Parish proistamenos Fr. Panagiotis Lekkas along with Parish Council President Despina Mattos welcomed Metropolitan Apostolos, the participants and the guests and congratulated the musicians and the choir members for the excellent program they presented.

Following the concert, the community hosted a beautiful reception prepared by the Philoptochos ladies for all of the attendees in the parish community center.
