Fr. George Anastasiou, presiding priest of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Whitestone, Queens, was appointed Deputy Chief Chaplain of the NYPD during a promotion ceremony on December 23, at the Police Academy in Flushing.
Fr. George is a graduate of the NYPD and FBI Citizens Academies and serves as a chaplain for the NYC Police Department since June of 2014. He also serves as chaplain to the MTA Police Department, MTA, TBTA Police Department and the NYS Fraternal Order of Police and he is an honorary Inspector for the Police Department.
