NEW YORK, NY –
Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (HCHC) announced earlier today that Fr. Michael Lambakis, Dean of the Annunciation Cathedral in Houston, TX, has been selected as the incoming Dean of Students.
“It is a great blessing to return to campus where my objective will be to connect the reality of parish life to our students who will one day serve those parishes”, he said adding that he has “a lot of practical experience to share with the students of HCHC. Their success benefits all our parishes and parishioners across the Archdiocese”.
“In addition to his HCHC education, Fr. Lambakis spent time in the United States Navy and has experience developing leaders. Whether they are clergy or laity, HCHC is sending leaders out into the world, to parishes, non-profit organizations and more. He will be instrumental in preparing and equipping those leaders for what they will encounter in their real-world careers. It’s a joy to welcome him back”, stated HCHC President Dr. Demetrios S. Katos.
According to a press release by HCHC, Fr. Lambakis graduated Hellenic College in 2003 and earned his Master of Divinity from Holy Cross in 2006. His first assignment was as an assistant priest at the Annunciation Cathedral in Houston, TX. Since 2010, he has been Dean of the Cathedral where he has mentored several clergy in their young careers.
While a student at HCHC, he served as director of housing and resident director for six years. In this role, he worked with the Office of Student Life as well as the Buildings and Grounds staff and coordinated activities for students such as sporting events, social functions and community service activities. He also served as the Married Student Association representative to the HCHC Student Council.
Fr. Michael and Presbytera Renee have two sons, Andrew and Nicholas, who are currently undergraduate students (senior and sophomore, respectively) at Hellenic College.
