Actor Gilles Marini spoke about his Greek heritage and he opened up about his new Hallmark movie, which comes out on March 15.
In his new Hallmark mystery “Crimes of Fashion: Killer Clutch,” he stars opposite Brooke D’Orsay, and Marini plays the role of French detective André Duvreuil. “I am so excited about this movie. I’ve wanted to work with Hallmark for a very long time. Our director Felipe Rodrigez was phenomenal. I cannot wait for everybody to see it,” he said.
“This film was a riot. I think it’s a fun movie that viewers are going to want to see more of,” he said. “I cannot wait for March 15th. Don’t forget to set your DVR for ‘Crimes of Fashion’ on the Hallmark Channel at 9 p.m.”
Marini, who was born in France, has Greek roots. His mother Franca is half-Greek, and she is a native of Athens, Greece.
“My mother’s family name is Galises,” Marini said. “I just hung up the phone with my ‘Greek heritage,’ who is also known as my mom. I talk to her every day… is it healthy? I don’t know, but once she’s gone, I won’t be able to speak to her ever again.
“Every single morning, when I wake up, I call my mom. We are addicted to speaking to each other to make the family better every day. We’ve been doing that regularly for the last 10 years,” he said.
“My mother is a strong woman, and she is my Greek heritage,” he exclaimed. “She is a Greek goddess, for sure. Even if she is 100 percent wrong, I always say ‘yes, mom.’ I love it,” he said with a sweet laugh.
Marini was a series regular on “Brothers and Sisters” and “Switched at Birth” and had recurring roles on “Two Broke Girls,” “Teen Wolf,” “Castle,” “Modern Family,” “Dare Devil,” “Devious Maids” and “Hot in Cleveland,” among others. His latest acting credits include “Uncoupled,” “Black Beauty,” “The Rookie,” “Dollface,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”
A true family man, Marini revealed that family is everything to him, and he is the proud husband of Carole, and father to his kids Georges and Juliana.
