BROOKLYN, NY –
NY State Senator Andrew Gounardes will hold a community celebration for the 5th anniversary of his historic 2018 victory on Nov. 13 at TALEA Beer Co.- Cobble Hill in Brooklyn.
“Five years ago today, the seemingly impossible happened when we won a historic campaign to flip the state senate and you elected me to be our community’s voice in the New York State Senate. Every day since then, I’ve woken up with the fiercest urgency to fight for our community to make the world a better place for all of us. It has truly been the honor of a lifetime”, said Gounardes in a note to his constituents, adding:
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in these five years, including: Passing the Reproductive Health Act, Passing the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, Enacting crucial election law and campaign finance reforms, Passing the Dream Act, and the Greenlight Act, Passing the strongest tenant protections our state has ever seen, Boosting funding for CUNY by hundreds of millions of dollars, Renewing and expanding the life- saving speed camera program, Protecting victims of workplace sexual harassment and discrimination, Enacting crucial health and disability benefits for 9/11 first responders and public workers during COVID, Expanding the empire state child tax credit to nearly 800,000 more eligible kids, Feeding thousands of community members during the darkest days of the pandemic, and so much more”.
“All of this would not have been possible if it wasn’t for your support over the years. There were so many people who came together to make a difference and I can’t thank you enough. Come join us next week as we celebrate 5 years of our historic wins together! As a special bonus, every ticket purchased from an in-district resident is eligible for our state’s new public financing system”, Gounardes said.
