Greece, Cyprus & Egypt FMs affirm shared commitment to promoting stability & prosperity in the E. Mediterranean

NEW YORK, NY –

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis participated in a trilateral meeting with his counterparts of Cyprus Constantinos Kombos and of Egypt Sameh Shoukry, and also held a bilateral meeting with Shoukry, in the context of the 78th UN General Assembly meeting in New York, the Greek ministry noted in X on Saturday.

In the trilateral meeting, the ministers “affirmed their shared commitment to promoting stability and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean”, added the ministry, with the agenda focusing on “coop expansion on civil protection, tourism and economy, connectivity with EU participation, flagship project “GREGY” Interconnector transferring green energy from Egypt to Europe through Greece and Egypt.” The next trilateral summit is to be held in Cairo by end of 2023, it was added.

In their bilateral meeting, Gerapetritis and Shoukry “reaffirmed their determination to further enhance their strategic relations and will to expand cooperation in various areas, including economy, labour and employment of Egyptian workers in sectors of growing need”, added the Greek ministry. They also focused on regional developments and the Middle East, while the first High-Level Ministerial Council is to be held in Athens, it was added.
