Greek American Youth Deliver Thanksgiving Meals to Families in Need

St. Nicholas Flushing GOYA

NEW YORK, NY – Greek News USA

The spirit of love and giving was truly on display just days before Thanksgiving Day as the youth of our Long Island parishes helped hundreds of needy families in the area to celebrate the day with the traditional meals.

The GOYAns of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church in Port Washington, N.Y., accompanied by parish deacon Fr. Ioannis Capones, and with the blessings of their proistamenos Fr. John Lardas, continued the tradition of their Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive delivering frozen turkeys, canned goods and pies to over 100 families in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn and in Queens.

Keeping an even older tradition, the GOYAns of St. Nicholas Church in Flushing, N.Y. with the guidance of assistant priest Fr. Aristides Garinis enjoyed another successful Thanksgiving Food Drive for families in need in the neighborhoods of Queens. They prepared over 100 boxes of food that were delivered with the help of their parents and parish council members.
