With great solemnity and emotion, the Greek School of Saint Demetrios in Upper Darby held its celebration in honor of the anniversary of March 25th, 1821, on Sunday, March 23rd—this year, Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross.

The students honored our national rebirth through poems, songs, and theatrical performances, paying tribute to the heroes of the Greek Revolution who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Greece.

The event began with the customary prayer offered by the proistamenos of the community and Director of the Greek School, Fr. Alexandros Kaitidis. The celebration was graciously presented by Mrs. Maria Mirtsopoulou, the preschool teacher.

Students from all grade levels participated with enthusiasm and love for their heritage in a program carefully prepared by their dedicated teachers. The audience applauded warmly, recognizing the importance of preserving the Greek language, history, and tradition.

“This celebration was not merely a commemorative event, but a living testimony that the spirit of Hellenism continues to inspire and guide the younger generations—even far from the homeland. Warm congratulations to all the children, teachers, and parents for their valuable contribution. Ζήτω η 25η Μαρτίου! Ζήτω η Ελλάδα!”, said Fr. Kaitidis.
