NEW YORK, NY –
With deep sadness and heavy hearts, the extended family of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Hicksville, NY, is getting ready to bid farewell to a beloved longtime member and former Philoptochos Society President, Maureen R. Floratos who peacefully passed away on February 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
Maureen Ruth Floratos (née Riley) was born on November 23, 1940, she married to George Floratos who hails from Kefalonia in 1960 and moved together with their family to Long Island in 1974.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated member of her community, which she has served in many capacities, Maureen’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Contributing unselfishly over the years to the parish of Holy Trinity in Hicksville, almost since its inception, she has also served as President of the Holy Trinity Philoptochos Society, encouraging many young ladies to join.
Under her leadership the chapter flourished and expanded its philanthropic work.
Maureen is survived by her loving husband, George; her cherished daughters, Angeletta, Margentina, and Mary-Jeannette; her son-in-law, Fotios; and her beloved grandson, George. She is also survived by her dear brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as a loving extended family, including nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Her legacy of service, love, and faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
Family and friends are invited to gather in Maureen’s honor on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 2 -4 PM & 6 -8 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes [125 W Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801].
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 18, at 10AM, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, [20 Field Ave., Hicksville, NY 11801] followed by internment at St. Margaret’s Cemetery, [1000 Washington Ave., Plainview, NY 11803].
