Memorial Service and Tribute Held for Archbishop Iakovos

BROOKLINE, MA – The 17- Year Memorial Service for Archbishop Iakovos of North and South America was held at the Chapel of the Holy Cross at the HCHC School of Theology in Brookline, MA on April 10.

His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos presided over the Divine Liturgy and the Memorial Service joined by His Grace Bishop Joachim of Amissos, Rev. Fr. Michael Kouremetis, Dean of Students, Deacon Dimitrios and seminarians. His Grace later chanted a Trisagion memorial service at the grave of Archbishop Iakovos which is behind the chapel.

A reception with presentations followed at the Maliotis Cultural Center.

Bishop Joachim of Amissos presented a lecture on the life and legacy of Archbishop Iakovos, Dr. Lewis Patsavos, Professor Emeritus of Canon Law, offered personal reflections on his lifetime association with the late Archbishop and HCHC President George Cantonis shared a story about his personal family connections to the legendary Archbishop.
