NEW YORK, NY – Greek News USA

Archbishop Elpidophoros administered the Oath of Office to the new National Philoptochos President Debbie George, the newly appointed Executive Board, and the National Philoptochos Board for the 2024-2026 term, during their inaugural Board meeting on October 18, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in New York City.

Philoptochos Spiritual Advisor, Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, was also present and offered remarks to open the meeting.

According to a National Philoptochos announcement, “His Grace also contributed to the presentation updating the board members on the Greek Fires relief efforts from September 2024. The gathering set the stage for strategic discussions and a reaffirmed commitment to advancing the Society’s mission, marking the beginning of a new chapter of impactful service and outreach across the country”.

Addressing the National Board Members Debbie George said that “for 93 years Philoptochos has been a force for good, and its work is as critical today as it has ever been. Whether it’s through engaging current members or welcoming new ones, our mission of philanthropy, faith, and service is what draws people to us. As we move forward, let’s remember that our mission is our guiding light. Each one of us plays a vital role in promoting and advancing this mission. We are all ambassadors of Philoptochos, representing its values and sharing its story wherever we go”.

Along with Debbie George the members who serve on the Executive Board are as follows: Anita Kartalopoulos, First Vice President, Stella Piches, Second Vice President, Elaine Zetes, Third Vice President, Philippa Condakes, Secretary, Anna Vedouras, Treasurer, Diana Jianas, Assistant Treasurer, Arlene Siavelis Kehl, Advisor, Maria Logus, Legal Advisor, Marty Driscoll, Parliamentarian, Chrissy Orginos-Zografos, Protocol Officer. In addition to the Executive Board, this appointment also includes the Presidents of each Metropolis and the Archdiocesan District, representing the nine Metropolises of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

“As we embark on this new term, let us always remember that we are a sisterhood united in Christ. Our strength comes from our unity, our compassion, and our shared mission. Let’s treat one another with kindness, respect, and an open heart. We are all volunteers, and each of us brings something unique to this table. Let’s honor that and continue to lift each other up as we work toward our shared goals. May God bless our work and our sisterhood to continue to make a positive difference in the world”, added Debbie George.
