NEW YORK, NY – New York City Mayor Eric Adams will travel to Athens, Greece, on November 30 to participate in the 2022 Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism.
Chaired by Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis, in partnership with the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), the Summit is co-hosted by the Center for Jewish Impact and the Jewish Federations of North America.
The trip comes following a recent attack against the Jewish community thwarted by local, statewide, and federal law enforcement last weekend.
On December 1, Mayor Adams will travel to Doha, Qatar, where he will meet with a number of government officials, as well as security and economic development leaders. According to the Mayor’s office, the trip is intended to learn more about the 2022 World Cup.
The New York/ New Jersey region is preparing to serve as a host city to the 2026 World Cup games.
“More details on both trips will be forthcoming”, said the statement, noting that the mayor will be back in New York City on Sunday, December 4.
The trip would mark the mayor’s first travel outside the U.S. since September, when he visited the Dominican Republic.
