Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos was honored with the 2026 Gala Honoree Award by the New York City Police Foundation at its Annual Gala on June 4 before an audience of more than 1000 attendees at the Intrepid Museum.
Presenting the Award were Dr. Philip O. Ozuah, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch.
SNF grants to the New York City Police Foundation have supported the International/Domestic Liaison Program, which stations NYPD officers in countries around the world to collaborate with local counterparts and help gather information on international counterterrorism operations, as well as community -centered programming, specifically the Options program, which uses virtual reality to help young people prepare to make good choices in difficult situations while developing useful professional and life skills, an announcement by SNF states.
In his remarks, Andreas Dracopoulos spoke about the importance of trust in institutions and the NYPD’s mission of earning the trust of the communities it serves.
“The health of our democracy has always relied on the health of our institutions and on trust in them. This is the basic premise on which the US was born 250 years ago, and it remains the premise of any real democracy and healthy society”, he said.“Thank you to everyone who serves to make this beautiful city a safer, healthier, more welcoming place”, he added.
“SNF and Andreas personally have both supported the New York City Police Foundation’s International Liaison Program and Community Engagement Initiatives for well over a decade, recognizing community as key to making New York City a safer place for all to live, work, visit, and grow up”, an announcement by the NYC Police Foundation states.
