As part of the 3rd Capital Link Cyprus Business Forum, held at the Metropolitan Club in New York City, the NYSE organized a special ceremony in honor of Cyprus with the cooperation with Safe Bulkers Inc, (NYSE: $SB).
Polys Hajioannou, Safe Bulkers, Inc. CEO, Chairman and Director and Cyprus Union of Shipowners Vice President, along with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, members of the Cypriot government and other distinguished members of the business community, rang the ‘Closing Bell’ on April 4.
The NYSE flew the Cypriot flag, together with the U.S. and Safe Bulkers flags, on Wall Street and issued special commemorative medals for the occasion.
Welcoming remarks were given by Chris Taylor, NYSE Chief Development Officer.

The Closing Bell ceremony was attended also by Minister of Energy, Commerce & Industry Giorgos Papanastasiou, Deputy Ministers of Shipping, Marina Hadjimanolis, of Research, Innovation & Digital Policy, Nicodemos Damianou, Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, Ambassador of Cyprus to the U.S. Evangelos Savva, Central Bank of Cyprus Governor Dr. Christodoulos Patsalides, Hellenic Bank CEO Michalis Louis, Safe Bulkers Inc. The 3rd Capital Link Cyprus Business Forum was organized in cooperation with the Cyprus Union of Shipowners and supported by Invest Cyprus and the Deputy Shipping Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus. This premier forum aimed to foster an open dialogue on Cyprus’s business and investment landscape, highlighting its openness and competitiveness on the global stage.
