The Pancretan Association of America (PAA), remaining faithful to its longstanding mission of supporting meaningful social initiatives in Crete, announced its participation and contribution to the renovation and upgrading of the Chania Alzheimer Support Center, in collaboration with the “Synanthropos” Organization and with the support of the local community of Chania.

The Chania Alzheimer Support Center, which provides valuable services to patients and families facing the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, will be relocated to new facilities within the grounds of the General Hospital of Chania “Saint George”. The renovation and development of the new premises aim to create a modern, functional, and welcoming environment that meets the needs of its beneficiaries and reflects the importance of the services provided by the Center.

The blessing ceremony marking the commencement of the renovation works will be officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Titos of Kydonia and Apokoronas on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m. The event will be attended by the President of the Pancretan Association of America and members of the Association, as well as representatives of local government, the Hospital Administration, the “Synanthropos” Organization, and the local community.

This initiative is part of the broader philanthropic and social mission of the Pancretan Association of America, which for decades has supported projects in healthcare, education, culture, and social welfare throughout Crete.

The President of the Pancretan Association of America Diane Kounalakis stated: “Caring for our fellow human beings who face serious health challenges is a fundamental responsibility. We are especially proud to collaborate with the ‘Synanthropos’ Organization and the Chania Alzheimer Support Center in creating an upgraded facility that will provide dignity, safety, and high-quality services to patients and their families. Special thanks to the Pancretan Philanthropic Chair Bianca Pigounakis and her committee for leading the fundraising efforts to meet our goal in record time in the United States. The PAA philanthropic committee is committed to helping organizations throughout Crete that create meaningful and lasting social impact.  On a personal note, my mother passed away from Alzheimer’s. I am deeply committed to the cause and my personal thanks to everyone who contributed to make this project from a dream to reality”.

In a press announcement, the Pancretan Association of America extended its sincere gratitude to His Eminence Metropolitan Titos of Kydonia and Apokoronas, Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum Mrs. Sevi Voloudaki, the “Synanthropos” Organization, as well as all those who have contributed and will continue to contribute to the implementation of this important project.

The Association also invited the local community to continue supporting the invaluable work of the Chania Alzheimer Support Center.
