Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Athens on October 11, and thanked him for his messages of support during the recent floods in Greece.
The Prime Minister said the spiritual leader of Orthodox Christians worldwide was among the first to speak about climate crisis repercussions internationally.
Mitsotakis and Patriarch Bartholomew discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, while the premier expressed his concern over the safety of the Christian population in the Holy Land. He also revealed that the Greek government had contacted the Israeli authorities to protect the Agios Porphyrios Monastery in Gaza from attacks by the Israeli Armed Forces.
