NEW YORK, NY – The International Coordinating Committee- Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA) mourns the passing of Leo Louchios, a “giant” in the local politics of Chicago, Illinois, at the early age of 66.

“Leo, a Greek Cypriot refugee, a victim of the illegal brutal Turkish invasion of Cyprus on July 20, 1974, lived the American dream. Behind the scenes as an assistant to Secretary to State Jesse White and currently Secretary Alex Gianoulias, he was the architect of numerous projects in the famous Greektown of Chicago.

As the founder of the Greektown Educational Foundation which provides resources to schools for Greek language education, he championed the Hellenic values and ideals”, notes Philip Christopher, PSEKA President adding that “Leo joins the ranks of many others who died with the dream of seeing a free and united Cyprus”.

PSEKA expresses condolences to his children, Alexander, Chrystala, Elizabeth and Veronica.

According to the Chicago Sun Time, Louchios died of a heart attack.
