NEW YORK, NY –
On Holy Monday evening, April 29, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America presided over the Second Bridegroom service at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Kimisis Tis Theotokou/Panagia of Island Park, New York. The community led by parish priest Fr. George Kazoulis warmly welcomed His Eminence and solemnly and attentively participated.
“In this service, we hear the words of Judas as he conspires with the Sanhedrin to betray our Lord. It is difficult to listen to the betrayal of our Lord”, but we are reminded during this service that “Even after the worst betrayal, God’s love never fails. That is why the worst sinners can become the greatest saints…the choice is ours. If we choose to remain blind to our own motivations and intentions, then the consequences can be disastrous for ourselves, and also for those around us” His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America remarked in his Homily.
