NEW YORK, NY –

Sounds of Cyprus, the musical ensemble dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Cyprus, has been honored with the 2024 New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) FY24 Support for Artists grant in the domain of folk and traditional arts.

Fiscally sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), this esteemed award uplifts Sounds of Cyprus’s exceptional commitment to the preservation and promotion of Cyprus’s traditional musical legacy, cultural history, and language dialect.

The award will allow Sounds of Cyprus to perform an interdisciplinary show of traditional Cypriot music and dance that will be free and open to the public. Sounds of Cyprus has captivated audiences globally with their dynamic performances, seamlessly blending ancient melodies with contemporary influences. This grant will empower the ensemble to expand outreach initiatives, conduct extensive research, and produce new works aimed at ensuring the growth and appreciation of Cyprus’s unique folk and traditional arts.

The support and recognition from NYSCA, NYFA, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Cyprus are a testament to the groups success in its mission to safeguard and promote Cyprus’s musical heritage to worldwide audiences and engage in bicommunal activities that create positive cultural exchange.
